Dr. Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten GG Alte Reben is a 100% Riesling dry white wine from the Mosel region of Germany that combines the intense, volcanic-red slate spice of its unique terroir with the profound, textural richness of ultra-old vines: on the nose it shows ripe yellow peach, poached pear, and bright pink grapefruit zest layered with star anise, wild mint, flinty smoke, and a subtle, perfume-like white floral spice; the palate is oily and powerful yet incredibly precise, with flavours of juicy mandarin, nectarine, and lemon curd supported by notes of honeyed ginger, crushed stone minerality, and gentle herbal tea, sometimes edging into riper hints of passionfruit and mango, while a crystalline, phenolic grip and laser-sharp, electric acidity keep it vibrant and focused; the finish is exceptionally long, dry, and dramatic, lingering on lime pith, savoury sea salt, and a clean, refreshing, highly spiced minerality.
