Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico
Description
Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico is a traditional, organically farmed Tuscan red wine from Italy's Chianti Classico region that beautifully captures the high-altitude terroir of Gaiole in Chianti by blending Sangiovese with native partners Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, and Colorino. On the nose, this characteristic Chianti Classico shows an expressive bouquet of bright red cherry, wild raspberry, and fresh red plum, seamlessly layered with notes of crushed violets, dried thyme, tobacco leaf, white pepper, and warm forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied, intensely savoury, and wonderfully linear, offering flavours of crunchy sour cherry, redcurrant, and dark forest berries supported by fine-grained tannins and a mouth-watering acidity that keeps its structure focused and long. The finish is persistent, bone-dry, and highly refreshing, lingering on notes of red berry skins, light wood spice, and chalky mineral earthiness, making it a perfect pairing for grilled red meats, roasted lamb, wild boar ragu, and aged Pecorino cheeses.
