Blandys 10 Year Old Malmsey

Blandy's 10 Year Old Malmsey (75cl) is a rich, beautifully complex, and sweet fortified Madeira wine that showcases the incredible, virtually indestructible depth achieved through the island's traditional heating and aging process: on the nose it shows intense dark amber highlights with aromas of dried figs, un-pitted prunes, and dark sultanas layered with fragrant orange marmalade, black molasses, toasted walnuts, dark chocolate, and a complex hint of warm wood smoke and exotic baking spices; the palate is full-bodied, velvety, and sumptuously sweet, with flavours of rich liquid caramel, sticky toffee, and roasted coffee beans supported by notes of candied citrus peel, dark honey, clove, and a heavy, tongue-coating texture, sometimes edging into riper hints of rum-soaked raisins, while a remarkably vibrant, laser-sharp, and mouth-watering volcanic acidity cuts directly through the sugar to keep it perfectly energetic and focused; the finish is remarkably long, warm, and highly complex, lingering on sweet nut skins, bitter cocoa, and a clean, refreshing, saline-tinged volcanic mineral aftertaste.
